Community VOICE

The concept of a Community VOICE is a simple one, and that is to collect one method of communication from as many people as possible in the community. The VOICE then provides a means by which any important community issues or projects can be communicated locally. The VOICE will enable local people to engage collectively & in individually digestible way (i.e. 1 topic every 1 or 2 weeks).

Some ways the VOICE could be used are:

  • To survey public opinion on local topics
  • To coordinate collective action
  • To survey for new & existing markets
  • To coordinate cooperative purchasing
  • To publicise events, activities & notices
  • To empower local people & groups

1. Suggest A Topic
Anyone in the community can SUGGEST A TOPIC. These suggested topics then get reviewed by VOICE STEERING GROUP for the community.

2. Rate Topics
All suggested topics are then made accessibly for RATING by the community.

3. Current Topics
The highest & most popular rated topics are turned into polls and VOICED to the community.

4. Topic Results
After 2 weeks the poll is ended and the RESULTS are published.

5. Action Points
As a result of the feedback from the community ACTION POINTS will be created.
Complete records of all action points created be recorded on the web so everyone can see what is materialising as a result of the topic that was VOICED.

All activity, whether it be suggesting, rating or voting is kept anonymous.

The project received a big boost recently when it was awarded “TalkTalk Innovation in the Community” award by Citizens Online (a charity that is focused on digital inclusion).
